How to Post a TikTok Slideshow From a Computer
By Piet PhamUpdated on 5 min read

Making slides is easier on a big screen, but TikTok's photo posts start on the phone. TikTok's help pages describe photo posts in the app and video uploads in the browser. So the question is how to get the slides from your computer onto TikTok without losing the swipeable format. There are three routes, and this guide covers each one. For the steps of the post itself, sizes and text placement, see the TikTok slideshow guide. We read every TikTok page linked here on 2026-10-31.
Key Takeaways
- TikTok's help gives photo post steps for the phone app only.
- TikTok's web browser steps are for video. A slideshow uploaded there posts as a video.
- To keep a swipeable photo post, move the images to your phone and post from the app.
- Scheduling tools can post photo posts through TikTok's API, if they support it and TikTok has audited them.
- Check the Upload page in your own browser, because TikTok's help pages may not show every web option.
What Does TikTok's Website Support?
TikTok's help page on making a post has separate steps for the app and for a web browser. The app steps include photos: tap Add post, tap Photo, then Upload, and add up to 35 photos. The web browser steps are to click Upload, then Select video to upload or Select file.
TikTok's Creator Academy guide to photo posts, last updated July 3, 2026, also starts in the app. TikTok's help page on TikTok Studio lists an upload for images or videos, but in the TikTok Studio app, which you download from Google Play or the App Store. The same page says TikTok Studio has only limited tools in a web browser.
We did not find a TikTok page that describes photo posts on its website when we checked on 2026-10-31. If your Upload page in the browser offers a photo option, try it with a private post first and check that the result swipes.
Which Route Should You Use?
| Route | Keeps the swipeable photo post | Effort | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Make on the computer, post from the phone | Yes | Move the files once | Most people, most posts |
| Upload a slideshow video on tiktok.com | No, it posts as a video | Join the slides into a video first | Mood edits timed to music |
| Post through a scheduling tool | Yes, if the tool supports photo posts | Connect the account, check the tool | Teams and planned calendars |
How Do You Make Slides on a Computer and Post From the Phone?
This route keeps everything TikTok offers for photo posts, including the sound picker and the text tool in the app.
- Export the slides at 1080x1920, numbered in order.
- Move them to your phone in full size: a cloud drive, AirDrop between Apple devices, or a cable.
- On the phone, save them to your photo gallery.
- Open TikTok, tap Add post, then Photo, then Upload.
- Select the slides in order, add a sound, write the caption and post.
If you send the slides to yourself in a messaging app, check that it sends the full-size file. A messaging app may send a smaller copy, so check the image size on the phone; a smaller copy can soften the text. The guide to sharp slide text explains why that matters.
If you post from a business account, the sound picker shows only TikTok's Commercial Music Library, according to TikTok's ads help page. Plan the mood of the slideshow around a sound you can find there.
How Do You Upload a Slideshow Video in the Browser?
If you want to post from the computer and do not need swiping, turn the slides into one vertical video and upload it on tiktok.com. Give each slide long enough on screen to be read, because viewers cannot stop on a slide without pausing.
This is a good fit for mood edits and montages timed to a beat. For lists, steps and tips, a photo post is better: the reader sets the pace.
Can a Scheduling Tool Post a TikTok Photo Post?
Scheduling tools post to TikTok through its Content Posting API. The photo post reference supports up to 35 images and two modes: posting directly, or uploading the photos so the creator finishes the post in TikTok's own editing flow.
Before you rely on a tool, check three things:
- It lists TikTok photo posts or carousels, not only videos.
- TikTok has audited its app. TikTok's docs say all content posted by unaudited tools is restricted to private viewing.
- How it handles sound. The photo post reference has one music option: in direct posting it can add recommended music, which you can change later in TikTok.
If the tool uploads the photos for you to finish, you still complete the post on the phone, but the slides are already in place.
What If the Post Comes Out as a Video?
If your slides end up as a video, the usual cause is the route, not the files. The photo mode troubleshooting guide has the checks to run in order.
Can You Make the Slides in Your Browser?
Wavegrain runs in the browser, so you can write, edit and export a slideshow on a laptop. The TikTok export downloads a ZIP of 1080x1920 PNG files named slide-1.png, slide-2.png and so on, with the post caption as a text file when there is one. For the browser upload route, the Video (MP4) button makes a vertical 1080x1920 MP4 in which each slide is a 2.8-second clip, with a half-second fade into the next. It has no music yet, so add a sound in TikTok.
Wavegrain can also post a slideshow to TikTok directly, but until TikTok approves Wavegrain's app in its Direct Post audit, a direct post can only be private (Only me), and only to a TikTok account set to private. For a public photo post, send the slides from Wavegrain to your TikTok inbox and finish the post in the TikTok app, or upload them there yourself.
