Where Postiz wins
- It posts to far more networks: more than 30, against Wavegrain's handful.
- It is open source under AGPL-3.0, and you can host it on your own server.
- Every plan includes its MCP server, CLI and API, so an agent can schedule anything.
Where Wavegrain wins
- Wavegrain writes the script and lays out every slide from one topic, so you start from a finished draft, not a blank template.
- You can build slides from your own photo collection. Wavegrain adds AI images only where you choose Collection + AI.
- One draft exports as a ZIP of PNG slides or an MP4, at 1080x1080, 1080x1350, 1080x1440 or 1080x1920.
What Wavegrain does not do
- Wavegrain plans, makes and schedules your slideshows on a Calendar. Automatic posting to connected networks turns on one network at a time, as each passes its developer review. Until then, export each post as a carousel, square, vertical, ZIP or video and post it where you already work.
- It does not post anything you have not approved, and it does not run accounts on autopilot.
Which one to pick
Pick Postiz if
You already have the images and need one place to schedule them to many networks, or you want an open-source scheduler you host yourself.
Pick Wavegrain if
You need the slideshow made in the first place: the hook, the slides, the photos and the export, before any scheduler.
Questions
Is Wavegrain a Postiz alternative?
Only for part of it. Wavegrain makes carousels and slideshows; Postiz schedules posts to more than 30 networks. If you need both, use Wavegrain to make the slides and a scheduler to post them.
Can Postiz make carousels?
Postiz has a built-in image editor and AI image generation on its Team plan and up, but on 26 October 2026 we found no feature that writes and lays out a whole carousel from a topic.
Can I use Wavegrain and Postiz together?
Yes. Export the slides from Wavegrain as PNG files or an MP4, then upload them to Postiz or any other scheduler. Both have an MCP server, so one AI agent can use both.
How much does Postiz cost?
On 26 October 2026 its pricing page listed Standard at $29, Team at $39, Pro at $49 and Ultimate at $99 a month, or $23 to $79 a month billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial.
